Don’t you hate it when you find out that your mother was right all along? That you didn’t need to spend thousands of dollars on skin treatments?
Because you don’t. Research suggests that, if you practice three basic principles in everyday life, not only can you improve your complexion but you can also fight off those nasty little critters called wrinkles.
Principle 1: Hydration
Water is your skin’s best friend. By drinking at least 2 litres per day, you are washing away metabolic waste products that would otherwise leave your body via your pores.
However, whatever you do on the inside must be matched by a good skincare routine. This need not be expensive however you should invest in a good cleanser, exfoliator and moisturiser (make sure it contains SPF).
Principle 2: Sleep
If you aren’t getting enough sleep, your face is one of the first places that will show it, often resulting in puffy, saggy eyes and dark circles.
Make sure you get at least 8-9 hours of good sleep per night. At night, try to avoid eating / drinking for at least two hours before bedtime and make sure you have good back support. Invest in a decent mattress and pillow and you’ll immediately feel the results.
Principle 3: Exercise
Get out there and burn some fat! Exercise increases blood flow, resulting in oxygen and nutrients being delivered to your skin. It will also help you maintain a great figure.
If it’s more expensive does that make it better?
Skin care manufacturers have made billions on the basis of clever marketing and pretty packaging.
However, in a study of 47 moisturisers from a variety of manufacturers, Choice Magazine found that only four of the top ten rated moisturisers cost over $50, with none costing over $100. Some were as cheap as $4, suggesting that you don’t need to break the budget to have great skin.
